Please join us for the feature film debut by Anggun Priambodo, ROCKET RAIN. In this slice of life diary/fantasy/autobiography, Jansen (played by screenwriter Tumpal Tampubolon) unexpectedly visits his long lost friend and video artist Culapo (played by the Director). Jansen is having relationship troubles so he escapes the city to share his marital problems with someone who knows a thing or two about relationships. During their awkward reunion, they become aware of how far they have grown apart and at the same time, learn that their vulnerabilities are mutual. Life's realities are interrupted by fake commercials and animated sequences that bring surreal humour to the proceedings. ROCKET RAIN touches on the universal human longing for inner peace and the shifting values within contemporary Indonesian society: in a country where traditions are considered sacred, the concepts of nature and social values are being mediated by the demands of modernity. ROCKET RAIN is a story of young people who are trying to cope with the endless complexities inherent in these contradictions.

"'What is this fear and frustration we're experiencing? 'Where does it come from?' 'Can we get over it?' - These are the questions the film poses," Director Anggun Priambodo shares. "It was an interesting thought that came a few years after my own separation." He adds: "I wanted to make something that looked and felt random but could be put together into a complete whole, one where everyone watching it could come up with their own meanings and conclusions."

Anggun PRIAMBODO (1977, Trenggalek, East Java, Indonesia) has a degree in interior design from the Jakarta Institute of Arts. He is a musician, director, actor and visual artist.
