Failed Calendars is an observation and reflection on workers’ relationships, workstations, and the mass production of photoproducts. It is an experimental short film from the perspective of an art student working in one of the leading mass photo laboratories in Germany. The film is made of residues from faulty photographs collected from the laboratory.

Mahshid Mahboubifar (she/her) is a multidisciplinary Iranian artist, currently based in Leipzig. Through photography, video, and installation, she creates new forms and narrations from archival and found material. Her work establishes a direct bond with her immediate surroundings, bridging the realms of objective reality and subjective perception, delving into the themes of migration, social hierarchy, and gender-based struggles. Mahshid Mahboubifar is currently studying Expanded Cinema at the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig with Prof. Clemens von Wedemeyer and Mareike Bernien. Before that, she completed a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication in Tehran and her Master’s degree in Digital Media at the University of Arts Bremen.
